Introducing Open Law

Open Law establishes the public standards and directory layer for legal practice data portability. Inspired by Open Banking, it separates open rails from commercial connectivity so clients can authorise the apps they choose.

What we're building

• A Directory trust anchor for participants and software credentials
• Dynamic Client Registration so apps connect to firm endpoints with cryptographic identity
• Read/Write APIs on a vendor-neutral ontology for matters, documents, and financials
• Open Data for public discovery of participants and published prices

Who it's for

Firms host practice data. Apps build client-facing and firm-facing software. Technical providers implement the APIs. Regulators gain transparency through client-visible data boundaries and conformance attestation.

The specifications are Apache-2.0 and maintained in public GitHub repositories — independent of any single vendor.
